Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Cunningham

Hi everyone!! My name is Ms. Cunningham and I am the Middle School Health and PE teacher and will also be coaching 8th Grade Girls Basketball and High School Girls JV Basketball. I am so excited to get the 2022-2023 school year going!!

About Me:

I was born and raised in Spokane, Washington with my parents and younger brother. I attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane while playing a variety of sports in Middle School and High School. I ended up getting a scholarship to play collegiate basketball at Montana State University Billings. I had a great experience in the classroom and on the basketball court at MSUB. My sophomore year we made it to the Elite 8 and had a great run. In the classroom, I graduated with a degree in Health and Human Performance with a teaching option (K-12) as well as getting a minor in Coaching, which I have a huge passion for. I completed my student teaching at Billings West High School and learned a ton from the many PE teachers there. While I was student teaching, I also coached the 8th grade boys and girls basketball teams at Riverside Middle School. I had an awesome experience coaching them and it made me realize how big of an impact a teacher/coach can have on students. After graduating in December 2020, I got a Long Term Assignment at Highland Elementary while their PE teacher was on maternity leave. This will be my second year teaching at Shepherd and I am super excited to get started again.

I enjoy all sports and outdoor activites, such as hiking, biking, skiing, surfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing. Mainly anything outdoors :) I have a huge passion for teaching and coaching and love how big of an impact you are able to make with students and athletes. I am currently getting my Masters Degree through Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instruction and love to improve my knowledge in many areas. I always strive to be the best I can be in any aspect of my life. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You can usually find me in the Middle School gym or in room H201. Cannot wait to see everyone and have a great school year!
