• Chalk It Up to Great Behavior

    • In our classroom we have a “Chalk It Up to Great Behavior” chart that displays each student’s behavior. This chart is a clip system that has six colors/labels for each student.

The explanations of the colored cards are as follows:

Every student will start on “Ready to Learn” (blue).

If a student is following expectations they may get to clip up the chart.  They can clip to: “Excellent Choices” (green), “Outstanding” (purple). If they clip higher than that, they get to clip onto my shirt.

If students are not making good choices they will have to clip down on the chart.

“Think About It” (yellow)- five minutes of recess to practice desired behaviors

“Make Better Choices” (orange)- ten minutes of recess taken away and they have to practice the desired behaviors

“Parent Contact” (red)- a refocus and 10 minutes of the next recess.  They will also practice the desired behaviors.

I will be using Class Dojo to keep track of student points.  If a student ends on blue they will get 1 point. Every clip up from that is one more point (max. of 4 points a day).  They will lose a point for every clip down below start. Once a student reaches 20 points, they will get a prize from my classroom treasure box.

Students can always move up the chart, but will still owe me the consequence they reached.
